In Shirley Jackson’s â€Å"The Lottery,† the subject of the story is drastically delineated by Jackson’s special tone. When a year the townspeople assemble in the focal square for the lottery. The residents anticipate the appearance of Mr. Summers and the black box. Inside the black box are collapsed sheets of paper, one piece having a dark spot on it. All the locals at that point draw a bit of paper out of the crate. Whoever gets the paper with the dark spot wins. Tessie Hutchinson wins the lottery!
